1. Live In The Time of Quarantine

Let’s Play Ball!

It’s time for spring training.

Maybe it’s spring fever, maybe it’s that second vaccine, but I have this unshakeable feeling that our industry is coming out of a deep thaw. That is good news for everyone. But it’s going to take longer for some businesses to return to action than others. And that means that many industry professionals, including the pros who have batted for Team Freeman, are sitting on the bench and eager for a chance to play ball.

Although our latest industry research shows an accelerated timeline for getting back to in-person events, no one can push a button to bring it all back right away. But there are things you can do to up your game in the meantime.

Freeman has launched Live Team, a networking resource for people in the business-events industry that will be especially useful for those who are furloughed, freelancing, or under employed. It’s an online talent resource and a place to connect with other professionals, share what you know, post your credentials and resume, and pick up some new skills. We know that the integration of in-person and virtual formats for live events will continue even after the pandemic is finally over, and a discussion of the latest industry trends and technologies will be a focus of these discussions. You’ll have the option to join in weekly Zoom calls with Live Team members. Or simply take advantage of a constantly updated list of resources.

Just as with the highly effective #GoLIVETogether initiative, we are offering this as a way to bring our industry together, support each member of our extended family, and hasten a comeback that will benefit all.

I urge anyone who is interested to explore our Live Team resource and register to take advantage of everything it has to offer. Think of it as a safe place to get in shape — a sort of spring training, if you will — to help you get back in the game.

And while you’re at it, let’s all do what we can to advocate for the Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act.  With this link, it only takes a couple minutes to reach out to your legislators and urge their support. This vital legislation will help get events people back to work and restore a vital contributor to our economy and communities.

Think of this as a chance to go to bat for everyone in our industry.
